Arrhythmias are irregular heartbeats. They happen when your heart beats too slow, too fast, or when your heart doesn’t beat in a steady rhythm.
These atypical conditions can be present at birth or develop at any age or stage of life and can be caused by electrical malfunctions or anatomical irregularities within the heart. Depending on the type and severity of the arrhythmia, treatment options range from medication to pacemaker placement to surgery.
It’s important that you see your doctor if you have an arrhythmia. If left untreated, some arrhythmias may be dangerous.
To schedule an appointment with a cardiologist, call (505) 426-3613. Appointments available Mondays and Fridays.
